| 2007-07-10 23:48 Syd | VOIP: Hi. I'm considering switching to acanac but one feature I've grown fond of with my current voip provider may stop me from switching if acanac doesn't support it. Essentially I can make seemlessly unlimited outbound calls to my family, transfer them to my asterisk conference extension, then call another family member and transfer them to the conference extension along with those currently connected. This is something I do usually once or twice a year but is really a great feature. Will acanac provide this same feature with their basic residential softphone plan or do I have to secure additional outbound trunks? | Answer |

| 2007-07-27 09:55 Ashley de Jong-Doucette | Connection Issues: Hi, I have your VOIP service, and our internet provider is Bell Sympatico. We've been very pleased with your service, except for the fact our ATA seems to disconnect whenever the internet is very busy, such as when downloading large files or watching large videos on the internet. We ofcourse understand that the connection quality would be low when downloading so much, but our phone doesn't even ring, the ATA has completely lost connection (we can't phone anyone either) until we reset it. This results in us missing many calls because we don't know when the ATA disconnects. We were wondering how to resolve this, and if there is something you can do on your end to fix it. To clarify: we don't mind switching downloads off when we get called, such is the life of a VOIP-user, but we do mind that the phone doesn't ring at all. In case you need this information, we have the Sipura ATA you provided. Thank you in advance for responding, Ashley de Jong - Doucette Steven de Jong | Answer |
| 2007-07-27 11:58 gilles | : Hi, You or one of your colleagues gave me a list of * commands (*76, *77, etc.) to activate or deactivate the features provided with the service. Could you please check the list below that I was given by your service? And forward a list that does work or an Internet page where I would find the correct codes. Here is the list provided by one of your colleagues: "The details of using the features are as follows: Last Call Return This will allow you to hear the details about the last inbound call *69 Call Forward - No Answer This will forward all calls to another number if your line is not answered Activate - *70 Deactivate - *71 Call Forward - All This will forward all inbound calls to another number Activate - *72 Deactivate - *73 Call Forward - Busy This will forward all inbound calls if your line is in use Activate - *74 Deactivate - *75 Do Not Disturb This will direct all inbound calls directly to your voice mail, and will not ring Activate - *76 Deactivate - *77 Anonymous Call Rejection This will block all inbound calls that have their number blocked Activate - *78 Deactivate - *79 Simultaneous Ring Inbound calls will ring on multiple numbers Activate - *33 Deactivate - *34 Setup - *35 Voice Mail Access From acanac phone number- *123 From other number- 1-866-248-7001 Call Transfer While on the call, press #. | 2007-08-03 09:30 Bernard | Speed Issues: Hi, My internet connection is normally fast untill yesterday afternoon. right now the speed is so slow... can someone investigate Bell/your end and see if their's anything out the ordinary? Note: I have read the following Tech note: Please see my comment on each line. My internet is very slow There could be 3 reasons why your internet is slow. 1. Your are very far from the central office thus the further you are the worse your connection will be. There is absolutly nothing we can do about this until bell puts in new lines in your area. Comment: As I mentioned, I had previously fast connection. 2. You have something on which is causing the bandwidth to be consumed. Check your computers to make sure no file sharing programs are active. Comment: None of these programs are active. 3. Check your connection to the wall to make sure you have a clean signal. Often there is too much line noise which causes your internet to be slow. If you are somewhat technical and understand the dmark location outside try and put the DSL line directly to the outside line that comes into the home Comment: My DSL/Router is located down the basement and the Bell line is connected directly to the DSL. Access to my Router and other PCs are at normal speed. I have rebooted the DSL and Router with No change. I browsed in to my router and diconnect/connect the connection and got a new internet IP addr and No change. I did a ping test(Internet IP addr)from my PC's command line, and I get a "time out" message. I pinged the Default Gateway, and I get a 30% packets lose. Your assistant is greatly appreciated. Right now I think that I will save a lot if I get my internet/phone service from you as I pay $32.95 and $19.95 to Rogers and Vonage, respectively (excluding tax). Thanks. | Answer |

| 2007-09-16 20:31 Dave | VOIP: Hello, Why does Acanac not have an online testing site to detect VOIP Linksys SPA2102 Adapter problems. The company recomends the purchase of the Linksys SPA2102 Adapter but then does not give good support to configure the unit. I have seen the online help for the ATA 2100 and it does not address sound issues such as choppyness and missed words when I talk. I had the codec changed by Acanac but this made no difference so it was changed back. I just feel if Acanac had software to detect problems I then could correct my Linksys SPA2102 unit's choppyness and missed words. Thank you, Dave | Answer |

| 2007-10-29 14:44 Paul | VOIP: My question is regarding the routing of call forwarded calls. If it get a long distance to my VOIP line and it is forwarded to my cell. Is it like the call is going to my cell, or is like 2 different calls, one to my VOIP line and from my voip line to my cell. The reason I am asking is because I have family in NC I visit quite often. but my roaming charges on my cell are outrageous. What I was thinking of doing was getting a VOIP line with a local North Carolina area code (for example 919) and getting a local NC cell phone. So if I call forwarded the VOIP line to the local cell my family and friends could call the VOIP line and I would only have to pay local charges on the cell. Would this work | Answer |

| 2007-11-11 22:42 Farhan Salim | VOIP: I use Acanac's softphone service. It works fine when I use it from North America, but when I use it from Bangladesh, I have problems. Even though I'm using high speed internet when I'm there, the line is choppy sometimes; furthermore, even when the line is fine, the person I'm talking to as well as myself experience lags during our conversation some of which are 15 to 20 secs and even sometimes 30 secs in length. I requested the g729 codec from the Acanac support, but they say that they are unable to comply because it is not available with the service I'm using, but under FAQ section of the softphone service, it does state that the g729 codec can be used to compress any softphone line service. | 2007-12-06 09:00 Marg Malloy | VOIP: We purchased your internet and phone service for our son who is away at university. Although we have found the phone/internet service fairly good, the Tech Support definatley needs improvement! Not being able to speach to someone is difficult. We are currently having a problem with his phone line although his internet is working. When calling you get his voice mail immediately and he states that there is no dial tone. This has been to my knowledge for the past few days! This is forcing him to use his cell phone that is very expensive when calling long distance! What should we do? He has a dry loop on his line. Also, another problem is he lives in a building where his front door access for visitors occurs through his telephone. when people buzz him, his phone should ring but does not ring and it then throws out his internet. This problem has been on-going. Thanks for your hepl. | Answer |

| 2007-12-18 15:05 M Khan | Connection Issues: Hi! Well I have a question regarding VPN access to work. I am having trouble connecting to VPN from my laptop to work. Here is my setup. 1. Laptop OS Win XP Pro. 2. Destkop OS Win XP Home. 3. Modem Lynx L-210 (Connected Hardwire) Note: I don't have a wireless connection at home. Simple connection via ethernet cable to my desktop. I am using the same Ethernet cable for both Desktop and Laptop - All I do is when I need to use my Laptop I remove it from Desktop and attach it to my Laptop. Here is the problem; When I use my laptop to connect to work using VPN connectivity and hardwireing it with eithernet cable (same one from my desktop to my laptop) I can't get any access. But I am able to connect to the internet because my setup is set to automatic in the network TCP/IP configurations. I did try to use the wireless access that I am picking up from my neighbourhood and once I use that I am able to connect fine to VPN without any problems. I even called my work help desk and they pointed out that it has to be the modem because the system (laptop) I have is working fine becaue I was able to connect to VPN via wireless. Could someone help me out is to why I am having this problem. I am willing to return this modem for something better if thats that case. I even called the Acanac helpdesk and the lady was really nice to help me out in bridgeing my modem but still didn't work for me. So now the problem is narrowed down to the modem. Any other way I should do this before I start to rip my hairs out from my head. Thanks for your help in advance. | Answer |

| 2008-01-19 18:23 Maria Tichoniuk | DSL: 1. Are you blocking peer-to-peer connections? I'm using DC++ to share files with my friends. From the time I switched from Rogers to Acanac I cannot establish any connection. What's more, I have Rogers service still available and as soon as I switch Ethernet cable to Rogers everything is OK. I'm also sure that all settings in DC (like TCP and UDP) are fine. 2. The Internet speed according to your advertisement should be 5Mbps download and 800kbps upload. I have checked my interned speed couple times per day and it never reached higher level than 2Mbps download and 600 kbps upload (upload is pretty OK). I understand that there could be some discrepancies, but this is only 50% of what you promised? Is this speed I should expect all the time? Impatiently awaiting your prompt reply Maria Tichoniuk | Answer |

| 2008-02-01 03:59 enrico | VOIP: lets start by saying we cancelled our acanac because they are saying we have to pay an extra 8 dollars for a dryloop for voip router /etc. We have no idea on what the dryloop is and how it works and decided to research the internet about dry loop(we have bell express) my question is... 1) If we get the acanac dsl unlimited with dry loop (extra $8)what do i have to do to transfer my phone line to the voip in acanac? 2) This phoneline is free and included in the service right? Im not going to return the modem yet. if this is the case we will probably sign up for acanac by the end of our term with bell canada(both the internet and the phone) the end of february. I assume someone has to come and do the dryloop and give the voip router to us. please respond to this regards enrico | Answer |

| 2008-02-01 16:31 Ariadna Epshteyn | DSL Questions: I am considering signing up with your DSL service. I live in Montreal and I have a few questions first: 1. In your "unlimited bandwidth" offering, are there any bandwidth limitations for upload AND/OR download: - bandwidth capping (for p2p protocols)? - traffic shaping (for ftp)? 2. Am I allowed to run a server from home on a residential unlimited contract? 3. If I sign up for 1 year unlimited bandwidth contract and decide to cancel within that time, what are cancellation fees? Or will I have to pay the entire 1 year contract fee at once and what if I decide to cancel later on? 4. You advise not to cancel service with my current ISP before I sign up with you - my ISP normally expects an advanced warning of cancellation, how should I go about it? 5. When you say a free modem is provided, does it mean I get to keep it even if I decide to cancel within 30 days with full refund (satisfaction garantee)? 6. I live in Montreal - where is the physical location of your office I will be dealing with? Are you a US-based company? Thank you for answering my questions. | Answer |
