My ATA Unit Is Not Connected and Phone Not Working

There are a few reasons why your phone is not working. Let's start off with the most common.

* Make sure your ATA unit is connected directly to your Cable or DSL modem. Often people put the ATA unit's behind a wireless router or other router and they have RTP issues or issues with connectivity. We are not saying that this will not work however make sure that ports 5060 are not blocked and the unit doesn't disrupt the sound quality.

Eg.

The above image is how you should be connected. If you have done this setup and still you can not get internet access make sure its just Modem --> ATA --> Computer and get rid of the wireless or land router temporarily.  Turn off the power to your Cable or DSL modem ( turn off power completely ). Then go to your internet explorer or other browser ( eg. Mozilla or Firefox ). Type in http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.2.1. The reason why try the different ips is because the sipura units often change ips if they detect more internal ips on the network to avoid conflicts. Once you get the sipura/Linksys configuration page go to admin login and advanced. Then click on WAN setup.

If you have cable leave it on DHCP. If you have DSL put it on PPPOE and set the userid and password for your DSL provider in the PPPOE settings area. In most cases all you have to do is enter the Login Name and Password not the Service name. Then Submit All Changes.

The unit will reboot and come back to the main screen. Now power up your cable modem again. The reason we turned it off is because some Modems actually do MAC authentication. This means that the modem provides ips to a device ( Eg. your router or computer ) and it locks it to that mac address. So when you try and plug a new device to your modem it will not provide an ip address to that device. You may even have to call your ISP to release the mac authentication from your side. Once your modem has finished booting up try and open a new browser and go to any website like yahoo.com or google.com. This should work. If it doesn't please contact your isp to release the MAC authentication and try again. Now if this works you have to plug your wireless or internal router back. All you have to do is change the cable that goes to your computer back to your router and from your router back to your computer.

Your router should get an ip from our Sipura/Linksys ATA adaptor however if you had DSL and your router was connected to your DSL modem then it may be likely that your router is still set to PPPOE settings. Login to your router and change the WAN connection settings to DHCP. Once you have done that save settings on your router and try again.

If you have tried all this and it still doesn't work contact support@acanac.com and one of our technicians will assist you.
